Accounting Solutions Group | Supervisor

Wegner CPAs is looking for an experienced Controller to join our Accounting Solutions Group as a Supervisor, providing outsourced accounting and financial leadership to a diverse portfolio of non profit clients. This is a highly visible, client-facing role for someone who thrives on building relationships, analyzing financial information, managing risk, and serving as a trusted financial advisor.
As a Controller, you’ll oversee the ongoing financial and accounting operations of assigned clients while partnering with their leadership teams, boards, finance committees, and other professional advisors. You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping clients strengthen their financial operations, improve reporting, plan for the future, and make informed strategic decisions.
What You’ll Do
Lead Client Financial Operations
- Plan, direct, and coordinate accounting and financial operations for assigned clients.
- Provide financial leadership and strategic guidance to client leadership teams.
- Conduct monthly remote client meetings focused on financial analysis, performance, and strategic planning.
- Review monthly financial statements, reports, and analysis prepared by Outsourced Accountants.
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients and their other professional service providers.
- Attend and present at client finance committee and board meetings.
- Maintain oversight of client engagement teams and ensure high-quality, timely service delivery.
Drive Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, including cash flow forecasting.
- Assist clients with the development and preparation of annual operating budgets.
- Analyze financial performance, trends, profitability, and key business drivers.
- Prepare complex Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other management reporting.
- Translate financial data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for clients.
Manage Risk & Strengthen Financial Controls
- Review cash flow information and initiate approved client payments through Bill.com, maintaining appropriate cash controls.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive internal controls designed to mitigate risk and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of client finance operations.
- Oversee regulatory reporting, tax planning, and compliance activities.
- Proactively identify and address financial or operational risks.
Be a Trusted Advisor
- Manage unexpected and sometimes urgent client matters with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with client leadership and stakeholders.
- Support business development and growth initiatives for the Accounting Solutions Group and Wegner CPAs.
- Look for opportunities to add value and help clients strengthen their organizations.
What You Bring
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, controllership, or a related role.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience in Non Profit Accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, projections, and management reporting.
- Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and profitability analysis.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to confidently communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- A proactive, client-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
