Senior Accountant | Assurance Department | Milwaukee Area Office

Wegner CPAs is continuing to grow and looking for a senior accountant to add to our team to service the Greater Milwaukee Area! In a team driven environment, Senior Accountant will be responsible for coordinating and performing superior audit work resulting in a high level of client satisfaction and contribute to the development of our team members and clients.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Professional Competence and Technical Skills
    • Responsible for completing auditing procedures and financial statement preparation efficiently, i.e., in line with reasonable budget expectations (based on realistic expectations of what it takes to complete the job).
    • Advanced analytical skills and accounting concepts
    • Oversee audit engagements – from planning stage of engagement and correspondence with client, to wrap up and final report issuance.
  • Supervision and Communication
    • Manage and identify specific client needs.
    • Actively listen and ask questions for ideas to improve or expand services.
    • Effectively supervise staff and serve as a mentor.
  • Marketing /Business Development
    • Manage professional relationships (i.e., network) with client personnel and members of the Board of Directors.
    • Actively seek out and schedule continuing education courses.
    • Involvement in community groups, networking organizations, boards of directors, etc.
    • Regularly attend networking events and/or fundraisers held by clients.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of audit experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective teamwork and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well with clients and staff

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Compliance auditing experience for federal and state awards
  • Exposure to tax processing

Public Contact:

Extensive work interacting both by phone and face to face with clients and staff.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment-very limited exposure to physical risk.  Equipment used: computer, fax machine, telephone, copier and scanner.

Physical Demands:

Essential demands include sitting at a desk, working on a computer for long periods of time and using a telephone to communicate with clients and staff.

Work Hours:

Additional work hours may be required during periods of increased workload and reduced hours available in off season.  Flexible schedules are available.
