SBA Anticipates Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Portal to Reopen This Week

The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG) program has been plagued with issues since its initial start date of April 8th.  In addition to the portal technical difficulties that began almost immediately, the program was also plagued with a scathing report from the Office of Inspector General less than 24 hours prior to the grand opening.  The Inspector’s concerns revolved around award amounts, payment schedules, and post-award accountability.  In response to many of these concerns, the SBA has noted that an SVOG guide will be available soon, likely addressing many of the high-risk areas.

The SBA announced late Friday that they aim to re-open the portal by the end of this week (week of April 18th).  It is important to note that potential applicants can still register for the portal right now, but cannot submit an application.  The SBA also advised that no applications were received while the portal was open and no funding has been disbursed at this time.  Those that have registered for the portal will be notified as soon as it is back up and running.  Registration for the portal can be completed via the current SVOG splash page.
