What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? The people, both internally and externally, are what I enjoy most.  We have excellent people within our firm and we work with great clients.

Who or what inspires you? I love helping clients.  There is nothing more satisfying for me professionally than helping a client achieve their goals.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: Traditionally our firm has been better known for serving nonprofit clients but 70% of our revenue actually comes from for profit clients.

One thing you would be surprised to know about me is: Even though I work extensively with manufacturers and distributors and now lead our Manufacturing/Supply Chain team, I didn’t have any background with manufacturers before I started working in public accounting.  I was a farm kid growing up and got interested in supply chain companies after I started helping them with their accounting and tax needs.

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? The culture is incredible.  It’s like working in one big healthy, happy family.

Who or what inspires you? Relationships.  I learned early in life that we don’t have “things” but we only have each other.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: We have an amazing talent pool of team members to serve clients.

Just for fun: When not at work, Cam likes riding his motorcycle and boating on Lake Michigan.  Before he can go, he must spend time with his rescue dog (Tahoe -yes, he drives a Chevy) and do small home improvement projects around the house in Fox Point.  After a long day of riding and boating, you can usually find him exploring new restaurants as he is a self-proclaimed “foodie”.

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? Wegner has wonderful people! We smile, we work hard, and we have fun. I think that comes across to the people we are close to in the community, fellow business people and our clients. All of us enjoy our work and are very passionate about what we do. That naturally pulls us closer together and creates a resource that is very valuable for the people we work with day in and day out.

Who or what inspires you? Hearing the story of a business owner is absolutely inspiring… As a business valuation analyst, I have many opportunities to visit with business owners. I get to hear about how these individuals started, the hurdles they have overcome, where they are now and where they plan to go. More often than not, they are always willing to share how they approach each day, the mistakes they’ve made, details tied the success they have had, or people they have met along life’s journey. It is very rare to not learn something new and engaging with each project.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: I am not always certain that our clients and others in the community know how much of the world Wegner touches. They may know that we have offices in Madison, Baraboo, and Waukesha but, we also do significant work in the Washington DC area and New York City. We have clients up and down each coast of the U.S. and throughout the world. Wegner is also a firm that is made up of professional people from throughout the US and the world. This creates a culture and fabric that allows us to tackle work from many different perspectives. It also makes life very interesting and helps us arrive at creative solutions for our clients.

Where is the most interesting place you’ve been? My family enjoys spending time every summer in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The one hundred mile long island is simply filled with opportunities for exploration, long walks early in the morning, quiet moments and sunsets.

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? This may sound like the cliché answer, but I really enjoy the people!  I greatly appreciate my coworkers I work alongside with every day, as well as my clients I get to interact with throughout the year.

Who or what inspires you? The opportunity of helping our team grow into something really special is a driving force for me each day.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: I hope people learn to appreciate and respect the breadth of knowledge and expertise our firm has with a variety of industries, especially the Manufacturing and Supply Chain niche.

What would be your ideal way to spend the weekend? First and foremost, I love spending time with my family.  I also really enjoy golfing…as much as possible.  That being said, an ideal weekend would involve a round of golf with my wife and kids (even though only one would be old enough to golf) and a cookout afterwards!

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? The thing I enjoy most about working at Wegner CPAs is that everyone is willing to help out, even during the busiest times of the year. There is an expansive wealth of knowledge across all of our offices that can help with solving any type of issue that arises.

Who or what inspires you? Getting to work closely with small business owners to develop a plan to allow them to achieve their goals is inspiring. Whether those goals are short-term or long-term, being able to be an asset to them is what inspires me to provide value-added recommendations.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: That our office is a full service accounting firm. We have a large not-for-profit niche and sometimes our firm gets the reputation that we only concentrate in that area, but in reality we provide services in numerous other industries. We provide a range of services from tax planning and compliance to accounting services for an array of industries.

What takes up too much of your time? I am a very detail oriented person, so while this can be good, it also can take up large portions of my day to ensure I have everything in line before moving the job on to the next step.

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? The teamwork environment. Wegner CPAs strives to partner with our clients and our staff on future success and I love being a team member that helps businesses strategically plan for important decisions.

Who or what inspires you? Family. The best advice that I have received professionally was to treat co-workers and clients the way that you would want somebody treating your mother at her job. At Wegner, I am able to work towards making my family (immediate and Wegner staff) proud by working hard and doing the right thing for our clients.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: That we value all of our clients. Many folks around Madison know about our attest work that we do with nonprofits, but we work with many for-profit and manufacturing clients as well.

What do you wish you knew more about? I wish I knew more about solutions to help small businesses and Manufacturing companies with finding skilled workers, retaining staff, increasing profitability and how to help make their local communities better places to live.

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? I enjoy the people and the variety of work I am able to do. However, my favorite part of working at Wegner is helping our clients with whatever services, issues, or problems they need assistance with.

Who or what inspires you? The kindness I see others exhibit inspires me to be better. That makes me strive to being a better person, husband, father, coworker, and advisor to clients. If everyone was a little nicer, just imagine how much better the world could be.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: A firm our size has similar resources of large firms, yet we’re not too large which allow us to provide the attention and service clients look for.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue? There’s so many different things I would want to do! If I had to pick one, it would be to travel the world with my family. I’ve always wanted to backpack through Europe, so that would probably be the first stop.

What do you like about working at Wegner CPAs? I really enjoy working with our manufacturing team members.

Who or what inspires you? I love the work I do:  tax, manufacturing, and closely-held businesses are a perfect mix.  I am passionate about these topics and that’s what keeps me motivated.

One thing I wish more people knew about Wegner CPAs: We tend to be put in the “small firm” category, but we have over 120 employees – that’s not so small!!

What was the best book or series that you’ve ever read? I love to read!  The best book series I ever read was Harry Potter.  I was in middle school when they first came out.  My grandpa would read it and then send it to me to read; it was a special bond between us.
