Staff Accountant | Baraboo Office
POSITION MISSION
Under the direction of the In-Charge, the Staff Accountant assists in providing tax and various accounting services to clients.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complete tasks assigned by the In-Charge.
2. Using a variety of accounting software including Peachtree, QuickBooks, MS Dynamics –GP, to enter bills, prepare payments and record deposits.
3. Make adjusting journal entries.
4. Electronically import and export client data.
5. Reconcile cash and prepare bank reconciliations.
6. Prepare interim financial statements including supplementary schedules.
7. Prepare 1099’s.
8. Prepare tax returns including 1120, 1120S 1065, Sales Tax, Personal Property Tax.
9. Plan and execute annual compilation engagements to include supplementary schedules and statement of cash flows.
10. Prepare and organize appropriate workpapers.
11. Complete projects efficiently within established time budgets.
12. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Minimum of one to two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
2. Proficient in Excel.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in use of general ledger accounting software.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP.
5. Knowledge of depreciation methods and lives.
6. Demonstrated ability to relate well to clients.
7. Demonstrated effective teamwork and leadership skills
8. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Demonstrated efficiency in completing multiple projects within limited time budgets.
CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Extensive work interacting both by phone and face to face with clients and staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment-very limited exposure to physical risk. Equipment used: computer, fax machine, telephone, copier and scanner.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential demands include sitting at a desk, working on a computer for long periods of time and using a telephone to communicate with clients and staff.
WORK HOURS
Typical business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Additional work hours will be expected during tax season (approximately January 15- April 15).
