Accounting Team Leader | Accounting Solutions Group

POSITION MISSION

Under general direction, the Accounting Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the team achieves and maintains a high level of satisfaction by providing accounting services to Wegner CPAs’ clients.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as primary liaison in coordination with Partners to clients in advising, directing and overseeing the outsourced accounting services provided by the Firm.
  • Advises, directs and oversees the financial activities of client accounts including preparation of current financial reports and summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.
  • Acts as controller for multiple clients by providing the organization and its management with the appropriate financial and operating information necessary
  • Advises clients on problems involving accounting systems
  • Provides technical advice to team members.
  • Coordinates team workload, provides assistance to team as needed (e.g., reconciling questions, software use,) and ensures all deadlines are met accordingly.
  • Maintains master schedule for accounting solutions engagements.institutes and maintains planning and control procedures.
  • Monitors write up and outsourced accounting engagements for profitability.
  • Reviews monthly write up engagements and provides technical advice/guidance.
  • Furnishes internal reports, analyses, and forecasts. Revises and updates same to be more useful and efficient. Provides externally as necessary.
  • Implements and maintains efficient processes for accounting services engagements and continually evaluates for process improvements.
  • Prepare proposals for outsourced accounting and write up engagements.
  • Assists on special projects with Partners as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for evaluating the performance of staff accountants on the team. Will recommend training requirement, to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet the Firm’s needs and objectives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

1. Minimum of five (5) years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Providing thorough analyses and sound accounting advice
  • Performing analytical and detailed work with numerical data and making computations rapidly and accurately
  • Preparing routine and proceduralized financial reports and records
  • Examining and verifying financial documents and reports
  • Working independently from general instructions
  • Communicating clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Working in a fast-paced environment;
  • maintaining good client relations and providing excellent customer service

2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computerized general ledger packages; Creative Solutions, Peachtree and/or Great Plains preferred.

3. Prior supervisory experience.

4. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP.

5. Demonstrated effective teamwork and leadership skills.

6. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

7. Demonstrated efficiency in completing multiple projects within limited time budgets.

8. Previous experience working in a public accounting firm desirable.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

CPA preferred.

PUBLIC CONTACT

Extensive work interacting both by phone and face to face with clients and staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment-very limited exposure to physical risk. Equipment used: computer, fax machine, telephone, copier and scanner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential demands include sitting at a desk, working on a computer for long periods of time and using a telephone to communicate with clients and staff.

WORK HOURS

Typical business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Additional work hours will be expected during tax season (approximately January 15- April 15).
